K&S POLICIES

TEACHING POLICY

Teachers at K&S must be available for a minimum of 16 lessons each semester, or 32 lessons a school year. Lessons should be taught within the framework of the semester dates of 20 weeks per semester. 

Options:

A.    Teach 15 lessons one semester and 17 the next. 

B.    Students that register after the start of the semester finish what is remaining of the semester.

C.    Teachers do make ups on other days if they cannot be here on the scheduled lesson day. 

D.    Teachers pay the administrative fee for 16 lessons even if they are not here for all 16 to enable them to retain their teaching position. 

E.     A very few teachers are taking students every other week for special circumstances of child-sharing between divorced parents and schedule these students at the end of their day. 

Exceptions:  

●      Adults are allowed leeway at the discretion of the teacher.

●      Exceptions to these items subject to approval by a Director.

●      Summer has no minimum requirement.

●      There is an 8-week introductory session for new students only. 

REGISTRATION FEE POLICY

$20 registration fee

Teacher collects registration fee from student. K&S bills teacher for it.

• When to charge registration fee:

  • For all students except those who study with more than one teacher at K&S.  They should only be charged once. The office will let you know if you have a student that is taking lessons with another teacher.

    • The teacher whose last name comes first in the alphabet will collect the registration fee.

• No registration fees are collected for:

  • Summer semester.

  • If a student will only have 5 lessons or less during a semester, do not charge registration fee. (Applicable Fall or Spring semesters)

FAMILY & SICK LEAVE POLICY

The number of weeks chosen as “leave" is up to the instructor. 

K&S Conservatory will grant at least one month of unpaid, administrative fee-free leave.  If it is necessary to extend the leave longer than one month, you will need to find a sub for your lessons or pay equivalent rent. For partial semester leave, Instructor collects all tuition and pays the sub. This policy applies to Fall and Spring Semesters.

PROFESSIONAL LEAVE POLICY

The number of weeks chosen as “leave" is up to the instructor. 

K&S will not grant any administrative fee-free leave. The instructor is responsible for finding a sub; K&S can help if needed. For partial semester leave, Instructor collects all tuition and pays the sub. This policy applies to Fall and Spring Semesters. Instructors are responsible to cover any administrative fee that would be lost. Any substitute instruction will need to be approved by K&S Directors.
